Abstract
The First Chinese Presbyterian Church is situated in a unique community. Under these particular historical, sociological and multi-cultural circumstances, the church needs a clear direction to establish its ministry. In order to meet such a need, the congregation must understand the history of the Chinese immigrants in the Chinatown area of New York City, especially their cultural and social background. Additionally, the congregation must clarify what they should emphasize theologically, Biblically, historically and sociologically in carrying out their ministry in Chinatown. They should also understand who they are and how they can remain faithful to the identity of Chinese Christians in New York City.
